Canada is set to update its student visa program through the implementation of a Trusted Institution Framework
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is rapidly progressing with its intentions to introduce the Trusted Institution Framework by 2024. This fresh approach is a component of a larger strategy aimed at the modernization of the International Student Program (ISP) within the IRCC.
Starting from 2024, Canada is planning to introduce a two-level system for Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs), wherein certain DLIs will be categorized as Trusted Institutions. Individuals applying to these Trusted Institutions will benefit from faster visa processing. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at modernizing the International Student Program within the Canadian Immigration Framework.
This decision comes at a time when there are increasing worries about housing accessibility for international students and even deliberations about potentially capping the number of international students in Canada Educational Institutions beyond the secondary level will be evaluated based on “Criteria that showcase their credibility as collaborators in terms of maintaining a sustainable intake, identifying authentic students, overseeing and reporting on their adherence and delivering a secure & enriching experience for their global students.”
