Latvia has top ranked Government Universities offering wide range of programs in the field of Technical, Medical and Economic, Business, researchers etc. Their policy of science and technology has a goal of transition from labor-consuming economy to knowledge-based economy. The government aims at a 1.5% GDP funding for research and development in the field of Organic Chemistry, Medical Chemistry, Genetic Engineering, Physics, Materials Science and Information Technologies.
Latvian Qualification Framework (LQF) which is similar to European Qualification Framework (EQF) which consists of Eight Reference level and imparts all level of education which are included in the Cabinet of Minister’s Regulations. The Learning outcomes are described in 3 dimensions namely Knowledge, Skills and Competence.
Erasmus+ is the European Union Program in the fields of education, training, youth and sport for the period 2014 – 2020.Under ERASMUS, University students will get a chance to transfer to other European Universities to study in order to contribute to their qualifications, skills, experience.
The ERASMUS program has been initiated with the purpose of enabling the students to enrich themselves with knowledge and experience of learning and living in other European Countries and also experiencing the culture of the country.
This helps to the develop the cooperation between institutions and enrich educational environment of host institutions to contribute towards the development well- qualified and experienced international young talents as well as future professionals.
Higher education institutions with more than 4000 in total, present in countries such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Croatia Norway, Turkey and the FYR of Macedonia are involved in ERASMUS activities. Erasmus programs in abroad can last from 2 to 12 months.
Business, Management and Informatics: Aprox EUR 2000 – 6000 per year
Engineering and Technology: Aprox EUR 2200 – 4000 per year
Medical courses: Aprox EUR 7000 – 15000 per year
