Opportunity to work while studying

International students are allowed to work during the studies. After completion of studies a student can apply to extend the residence permit for up to six months. Students are allowed to do Part-Time job. Duration is 20 hrs per week

Settle in Sweden

Residence Permit

A student planning for a full time study for a period exceeding 3 months should apply for a residence Permit for studies in Sweden. To apply for a permit student must have been admitted to a full-time accredited university course in Sweden and should have paid a first installment of his tuition fee.

Permits for Family member

A family member(s)of a student with a residence permit for studies at a university can also apply for their residence permit for the same period of time. If the permit is for longer than 6 months family member can get a work permit. Spouse can work full time during the course of study.

Requirements for residence permit

You are eligible for a residence permit if your family member have a residence permit for studies and if you Have your support secured for the whole planned period of stay in Sweden. Support requirement fund is SEK 3500 per month for a Spouse and SEK 2100 per month for a child.

  1. Can student get the work rights during study?
  2. Yes, they get full time work rights while studies There is no 20 hr / week restriction as in other countries. They get resident permit card right from the beginning.

  3. Can the student pay tuition fee after visa approval?
  4. No the student has to pay the 1st semester fees (half of the first year ) and apply for the visa.

  5. Is there any scholarships?
  6. Yes,students with 75% or above marks can request for fee waiver.This waiver will be equally divided for all semesters.

  7. How much funds need to be shown during Visa filing?
  8. Approximately Rs. 6.5 lakhs in Savings a/c in the name of student. In case of a couple it must be appr. Rs.10.5 lakhs.

  9. How much is the Visa Fees?
  10. Residence permit fees for the student SEK 1000.

    Fee for family members

    For Adults, it is 1000 SEK

    For Child, Fee is 500 SEK.

  11. What is the required IELTS score for the applicant?
  12. IELTS requirement depends upon the course of study. It is not needed for Engineering back ground. But for Management & Health related courses (like Public Health/Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Mind Brain & Well Being etc) the overall score required is 6.5.
